Sye McRitchie

Sye McRitchie has known heartbreak and distress that most of us could never imagine, and for this his raw emotion, passion and sadness is the beauty that runs through his veins and songs…

An ex pro-surfer and the ilk of a folk singer and a painter, Sye’s alternative ‘warlock rock’ fuses folk, punk, pop, opera, and something else we can’t quite describe.

This Sydney-based artist is London, Tokyo, Berlin, Paris, L,A, Vegas, Cape Town and beyond! The very definition of an artist, Sye’s music incarnates constantly, with either the poise of a martini or a crisp bubbly chirp of a beer, and always in good grace, he has adorned many of the planets festivals: Shambala (UK), Warp Tour (LA), Taste of Chaos (Au), Peats Ridge Festival (AU), SubSonic (AU) and Come Together Festival (AU), to name but a few.

Self-taught and the Jack Sparrow of music, Sye has shared the stage with Tex Perkins, Brendan MacLean and Will & The People, and has enjoyed festival billings with Goyte, Rufus, and many more.

Whilst travelling the UK and Europe in his gypsy wagon for 7 months in 2013, Sye supported London scallywags and good friends Will and The People, and closer to home has guested as a vocalist on the Australian pioneers of ‘ozzy hip hop’ Def Wish Cast’s track Forever from the album Evolution Machine, and on hip hop outfit Dutch on the track This Is It, as well as collaborating with a mob of talented others.

As former front-man and co-songwriter for Sydney hard-rock outfit Kill The Capitol, Sye found himself sharing arenas here and in LA with bands such as The Used, Killswitch Engage, Rise Against, and closer to home, Parkwaydrive, Grinspoon, Cog, Mamal, Dead Letter Circus, Children Collide.
