TRIFFID ACOUSTICS – ACOUSTIC SONGS TO KEEP YOU
GOING EVERY WEDNESDAY

Born and raised in Kentish Town, London. I was a good kid with a kind heart and red hair. A tree climbing day dreamer who traded sports and council estate fashion for punk rock and camden markets.

I studied at Camberwell College Of Art from 2003 – 2007 where I also learnt to embraced squat parties, promiscuous substances and mischief. I came away from Camberwell with a BA(hons) in Illustration and a nasty hangover that left me feeling like I had awoken from a tangle of weird dreams. During that time I played in bands (The Humanity, Grand Library of Young Blood), met awesome people and made Zines (Pretend We’re Dead, I’m in Love with a Dead Dog, Throwing Up In Comic Sans). I also exhibited work in various group shows and other fun things like making puppets out of felt and videos where I pretended to be well emo.

Then I fell in love, quit my job, and flew to Australia and now I live on the Gold Coast with my husband and our daughter. Living on the Gold Coast is like living in a permanent holiday vortex.

I “turned straight edge”, made a band with new friends called Albion Gold. We loved indie, punk, hardcore, riot grrlll and played a lot of shows. I also wrote some slower/sadder songs on my acoustic I didn’t let anyone hear for a long time.

Then Joey Cape (Lagwagon, Bad Astronaut) heard one of those slower songs and he really liked it. It was called Hail, Hail, The Dead Can Dance and its about living in New Cross whilst I was studying at Camberwell.
I got to play it at his Gold Coast show during his Australia Tour and we kept in touch.
He said “I really want to make an album with you”
I said “okay”
and a bit further into 2014 I went to San Francisco to record an album for Joey’s label One Week Records.

Just over a year on from recording my debut album and I am play acoustic shows where ever people will let me and still drawing pictures and still feel out of step with the world.
