The Second Affair
Second Affair is a five-piece Australian band, comprising of Simon Vermeulen (lead vocals), Toby Thompson(guitar/keys/vocals), Tommy Drake (lead guitar/vocals), Jase Fuller (bass) and Chris Neill (vocals/percussion). Targeting the pop rock culture, their songs feature soaring harmonies and plenty of hook lines to sing along to. After meeting through the Brisbane cover scene they knew their main focus was to write and record their own music; this led to them sharing the stage with some of Australia’s biggest music legends, such as Mark Seymour, The Choirboys and Daryl Braithwaite. Second Affair’s much anticipated EP, “On Our Way” was released in January 2016. This exciting compilation was created in the studio with ARIA nominated producer, Stuart Stuart, of Analog Heart Records. Stuart’s past credits include fellow Brisbane bands, Sheppard, The Veronicas, Small Mercies and many more. The debut single “When I’m With You” has been met with a positive response, gaining regular airplay on radio stations, including 4ZZZ and 99.7FM, with more stations quickly following suit. The film clip for the single has also gained over 1,000 views on YouTube within weeks of its release, and fast becoming a crowd favourite. With their big sound, exceptional music talent, and catchy choruses, Second Affair is ready to show the world what they are made of.

Between Kings
The day three guys simultaneously walked out on their music degree in 2013 to form a band, Nic (vocals), Jordan (guitar) and Jayden (bass) all realized a band needs a drummer. Nick ‘Tricky’ (drummer) was the only one who turned up the day of interviews, killed the audition and BETWEEN KINGS was formed.
This alternative Brisbane rock band in their early 20’s have been compared to the likes of Red Hot Chili Peppers, Imagine Dragons and Royal Blood. Regularly headlining around the Brisbane music scene in venues such as The Zoo, Ric’s, The New Globe, Black Bear Lodge, Beetle Bar and more.
Between Kings has a growing fan base and has supported such touring bands as Red Beard & Young Lions (The Brightside),
Faleepo FrancisCo (Beetle Bar)

With memorable riffs, driving bass, explosive drum beats and alluring vocals we are BETWEEN KINGS.

Well we are Concrete Surfers, a four piece from the outer suburbs of Brisbane. We play ‘garage surf’ style music and we just love having a good time.

We think this opportunity would be a really good way to reach out to a wider audience and entertain many people with our sounds.

Hammerhead are a Brisbane based 4 piece melodic rock band. Formed in 2004 the boys released their third album, “Illumina” in 2011 following releases of “Stiff” (2006) and “Seduction Suite” (2008). Material is very 80s inspired and is essentially built from ballsy guitar riffs with catchy melodic hooks, blistering lead breaks and soaring harmonised vocals. Hammerhead’s live show convincingly supports all recordings and oozes with the passion gone into the songs – the boys like to play! Album number four, ‘Oblivion’ is currently in the makings and the boys are on fire following scoring support spot for Motley Crue and Alice Cooper in 2015.

Avid Society

My name is Matt and I’m the guitarist/manager of the Brisbane four piece alternative blues rock band Avid Society.

We formed mid to late 2015 and have since been writing and putting together a comprehensive live show that appeals to a wide audience with the goal of recording our first EP this year.

We’d love to be considered for the Amped Up competition as we feel this would be a great opportunity to gain invaluable experience and exposure. Just to be a part of an event like this will be an amazing experience. The possibility of winning first prize would see our goals fulfilled (more than we can hope for).

Port Royal
Port Royal are a 4 piece rock n roll band from Brisbane. With extravagant solos, soaring melodies and classic 60’s 70’s rock and roll riffing, you are in for a night of pure bliss. Port Royal have been ruling the Brisbane circuit the last 6 months playing iconic venues such as The Beetle Bar, The Zoo, Ric’s Bar, Black Bear Lodge and The Bearded Lady just to name a few. Its only upwards from here for the bluesy boys with their Debut EP set for a release sometime in May.

I’m from a band called “less~more” and we’d love to put in our entry for Amped Up. We don’t have any demos recorded but our sound is very Beach House / Toro Y Moi / Mac Demarco

The band includes myself, Kate and Connor, and we’re three musicians from very different backgrounds/sounds who like to come together and play cruisey slow jams together for fun under the name less~more.

TJ is one energetic 20 year old Hip Hop artist from the small beach town of Port Macquarie, NSW.
Currently living in Brisbane, TJ is in the middle of recording his debut ‘EP’ that will be released later this year.

Since moving to Brisbane as a chance to expose himself to new artists and creative techniques, TJ released his first piece of work in mid 2015, ‘PROJECT [46]’ which is a live, interactive, multimedia performance that was split into 3 separate music videos.
Aimed at other underground artists to show the importance of conceptual expression in all aspects of hip-hop, including the live shows.

After the release of ‘P[46]’, TJ had gained fans from all over Australia as well as overseas.
This led to him playing multiple shows in 2015 and then starting off 2016 with a bang, playing shows all down the East Coast.

TJ is anything but generic… bringing in depth lyrics with him as a new wave of response to any Australian hip hop stereotypes.

The Apathies
The Apathies are keen to have a crack at your competition.
We’re a four-piece band from Bris, born out of too much sex, too many drugs and a desire for more rock n roll. We’re often told we’re “punk in attitude, not in sound,” and I guess you could put us somewhere between Iggy Pop (when Tim is on vocals) and Patti Smith (when Nell is on vocals), and maybe chuck in some Nick Cave for good measure.

Give It All
Give it all is a 5 piece positive hardcore punk band promoting a positive outlook and raising awareness for mental health charities beyondblue and headspace. Give it all has a strong passion for making others aware that when you are feeling down, you are not alone. This is why every dollar the band earns is donated directly to these two charities, in an attempt to help those struggling with mental health issues attain the necessary support needed. Give it all released their debut album ‘You are not alone’ in April. The album consists of 9 powerful songs, each driving a positive message for listeners.
