Our Beer Garden is open for food and drinks from 12noon.

The Triffid has just turned two and is already one of Australia’s most loved live music venues for punters and artists alike.

For our first year the Triffid garden was home for the much-loved Triffid Roots we worked alongside Sarah Howells to ensure that our Sunday session was second to none.

The summer of 2016/2017 will see The Triffid re-invent our Sunday sessions.

Based on a passion for spirited acoustic music we have partnered with the Americana Association of Australia for present AMERICANA SESSIONS FREE EVERY SUNDAY IN THE TRIFFID GARDEN.

Every Sunday lovers of Folk, Country, Rhythm & Blues, Blues and Rock and Roll will be presented with some of the most respected artists around. This will all be happening in relaxed surrounds of the Triffid garden with a brand new menu for the foodies and plenty of other musical and beverage surprises.

There’s been a real buzz building around Josh Rennie-Hynes in the last few years. Relatively new to the scene, he’s quickly garnered praise as one of the Australia’s finest Young Songwriters.

Rennie-Hynes lives and breathes his Music and Songs, and this passion for his craft burns bright for all to see. He combines his love of honest and raw storytelling with deep introspection to create songs that are timeless and familiar, yet uniquely his own.

2014 saw him release his Debut Album ‘February’ through MGM. The Album was produced and recorded by ARIA award winning Artist, Shane Nicholson and received critical acclaim –

“Few Young Artists in recent memory have so effortlessly bridged the gap between the Younger generation and the Elders educated by the Folk and Country Legends” Rhythms Magazine

“Possessing a wonderfully honest Australian accent and smooth vocals, the songs are effortless and well constructed; the sincerity and unaffected performance refreshing” The Music

“Rennie-Hynes’ sure touch as a storyteller will keep you enthralled from start to finish” The Courier Mail

“Now one of my favourite contemporary Roots Artists, if ‘February’ isn’t already in your Record collection, you should remedy that as soon as possible” The International Americana show

“It’s the effortless nature of Rennie-Hynes’ melodic and poignant songs that wins one over. Warm and familiar even if heard for the First time, they prove his talent is strong and on the rise” Post to Wire

In late 2015, Rennie-Hynes stepped back into his Studio on the family farm in Woodford, Queensland, to begin work on his Second Album. The Album, titled Furthermore’ is a stunning collection of 11 songs that were recorded over the period of Three weeks. Working everyday from morning until late night, Rennie-Hynes Produced, Engineered and Recorded all of the songs alongside his Friend and collaborator, Steve Grady. Together they played the bulk of the instruments; with a focus on capturing the essence of each song and building it from a Bedrock live performance of just Josh and a Guitar. The result is an Album which is organic, cohesive, yet also eclectic, with Rennie-Hynes’ warm and assured Vocal providing the common thread throughout. Furthermore also features Guest appearances from two time Grammy nominated Artist, Kim Richey, who sang on ‘I’ll Go Home’ Olivia Hally from OhPep! who sang on ‘Shining Down’, a song Rennie-Hynes and Hally co wrote, and fellow Queensland born Songwriter and Multi instrumentalist Dan Parsons features on multiple tracks, lending Guitar, Harmony and percussion throughout.

‘Furthermore’ was released in late August 2016, and has been garnering incredible reviews –

“It is clear that Rennie-Hynes is one of the leading lights of Australian Alt-Country with a gift for storytelling that brings to mind Paul Kelly and Jeff Tweedy of Wilco. 4 out of 5 Stars” The Courier Mail

“Exquisite, shimmering Guitar Colours and fine lyrical details. 4 out of 5 stars” The Rolling Stone

“These songs show why Rennie-Hynes is one of the fastest rising Stars on the Australian scene today. 4 out of 5 Stars” Beat Magazine

“Josh Rennie-Hynes could be Australia’s best Young Alt-Country Talent” Country Update magazine

“This Album finds Rennie-Hynes exploring new terrain while sticking to what he does best: writing songs that linger long after the first listen” Brag Magazine

Rennie- Hynes’ live show takes the Audience on a moving and unforgettable journey, and since the release of his ’February’ in 2014, he has toured relentlessly throughout Australia, New Zealand and the USA. He’s performed at major Festivals such as The Americana Music Festival in Nashville, Woodford Folk Festival, Southern Fork Americana Festival in Auckland, Queenscliff Music Festival and the Nannup Music Festival among many others. On the back of releasing Furthermore in August, he will be undertaking his largest Tour to date, performing in well-respected venues all across Australia and New Zealand for the remainder of 2016. 2017 will be equally as productive, with the follow up tour for Furthermore planned in March as well as Festival appearances, a side project Album release with Steve Grady, and a mid year tour of the USA coinciding with the Album release and Radio campaign in North America.

For Rennie-Hynes though, the message is simple “Music has always been with me, like a best friend, I’ve been completely in love with it since I was a Child. To now be forging my living from it as an Artist and Songwriter is something I used to dream of, and to be able to share my songs with audiences every night is something I’m truly grateful for
