ZAC GUNTHORPE

Up-and-coming Brisbane singer-songwriter Zac Gunthorpe will release his debut album, Glory Bound, on August 1 through Soul Arch Records.

Zac Gunthorpe has progressed in leaps and bounds since the release of his Long Lost Love Lies EP in October 2012. Constant gigging has seen him become an engaging live performer, and the young Queenslander has honed his already impressive songwriting skills to a knife’s edge. His songwriting has maturity well beyond his years, as Zac Gunthorpe’s balladering style has scaled new heights in telling emotional tales of love and loss.

Glory Bound was recorded completely live in producer Andrew Morris’s studio at the Church Farm in Northern NSW. Zac Gunthorpe called on members of his favourite bands to back him on his rollicking roots-rock debut. He enlisted members of The Wilson Pickers, The Gin Club, Mexico City and The Living End to create a formidable back-up band to flesh out his already artfully crafted compositions.

Glory Bound showcases a young songwriter on the rise.

First single Telephone Line laments the distance created by our busy modern day lives, touching on our inability for simple social interaction and our disconnected relationship with the environment. The backing band echoes Dylan’s The Band at their best, as the song ticks along with bristling fervour and climaxes in a rousing chorus.
