Amela

Amela is a Bosnian-born, Brisbane-based indie-folk singer/songwriter. Her music employs a more traditional style of songwriting inspired by artists such as Feist, Gillian Welch and First Aid Kit. Amela is backed by guitarist Jacob de Weger (Malo Zima), bassist Patrick O Sullivan (Stormchasers) and Michael Smallman (Glacier).
Her latest single, Doris, was received well around Brisbane and was also featured by US blog The Wild Honey Pie, who described her music as ‘spellbinding’. Amela’s debut EP, Not Enough Honey, was reviewed by Brisbane’s AAA, Gold Coast’s BLANK magazine, and was played on high rotation on Triple J’s Unearthed Radio and Gold Coast’s Rabbit Radio.

Amela’s most renowned single, Come Home, has over 25,000 plays on YouTube and has been featured on radio stations around Eastern Europe and South East Australia. She was also a finalist for Telstra’s Road to Tamworth competition in 2011.
