Hailing from Queensland Australia, Illicit Symphony is a band not looking to fulfil the latest genre fad or 15 second musical moment that has become all too common on today’s radio line ups, but instead are a band of serious and experienced musicians. Not content with the transient state of the music industry and its fads, Illicit Symphony are here to reinvigorate the world’s passion for rock and roll. With a writing style and sense for melodic riffs that have a closer association to the great classic rock bands like U2, Guns and Roses and Queen, Illicit Symphony bring a whole new fresh modern perspective and take on what it is to be a big live and studio rock band in this day and age.

The first single off their self-titled debut album “Hot Body” is a riffing rocking song that lyrically doesn’t take itself too seriously. The album was recorded in one of Australia’s top studios, Heliport Studios and produced by James Russell and in true rock and roll tradition, it was recorded to tape then mixed on a legendary SSL console! “Hot Body” sonically has all the
hallmarks of a rock anthem – energy, thumping drums and driving guitar tones that would make any rock aficionado stand up and take notice, combined with the decisive and energetic lead vocals of frontman Andrew Man creates a formula that also translates into an exciting live show.

Banned From The Club were formed in 2014 when the Cornish singer, songwriter Iain (Linamix) Harris enlisted his long time friend Rowan (Quizmical) to help him take the work he’d written and create solid songs. Quizmical’s technical understanding of song structure, experience as a live musician and gritty edge, fits in juxtaposition with Linamix’s catchy summer sing along style.

Their sound was defined when a reggae and ska influenced, Argentinian, multi instrumentalist, Esteban Aap joined the band taking their rap, rock and garnishing it with solid driving bass riffs, unnatural lead licks and haunting South American vocals, giving them a unique, alternative pith.

Esteban lays down a bass loop then shreds the fabric of time with a blistering solo an octave up over it, still using the same guitar, Linamix’ vocal range redefines classic classing creating a new range spanning from baritone to tenor using both Spanish and English to truly bury the deep, driving sex fuelled orgy of funkadelia into your ear holes and the whole time the energy on stage would have Yo Muma up and dancing.

This self-managed, self-funded, truly independent endeavour is driven by a work hard, play hard attitude that is born of unadulterated passion. As a live act they are polished and full of energy, the outcome is a tight, harmonic, funk, fusion three piece that are driven by the dirty, fun sound they have fine tuned, as long as the show blows you away, who cares how the night ends, hell, let’s all get Banned!

This is an 18+ event.
