The Triffid has just turned two and is already one of Australia’s most loved live music venues for punters and artists alike.
For our first year the Triffid garden was home for the much-loved Triffid Roots we worked alongside Sarah Howells to ensure that our Sunday session was second to none.
The summer of 2016/2017 will see The Triffid re-invent our Sunday sessions.
Based on a passion for spirited acoustic music we have partnered with the Americana Association of Australia for present AMERICANA SESSIONS FREE EVERY SUNDAY IN THE TRIFFID GARDEN.
Every Sunday lovers of Folk, Country, Rhythm & Blues, Blues and Rock and Roll will be presented with some of the most respected artists around. This will all be happening in relaxed surrounds of the Triffid garden with a brand new menu for the foodies and plenty of other musical and beverage surprises.
Widely regarded as one of Australia’s finest young singer-songwriters,
Jordie Lane has returned to Australia, with his first full length studio album in 5 years,
GLASSELLLAND (pronounced Glas-Sell-Land).
A bold and adventurous record, recorded in Los Angeles, that sees Lane extend his musical
boundaries far beyond his previous acclaimed Folk and Alt. Country sound.
Fresh from a triumphant National Album tour,
Jordie Lane has been receiving rave reviews for his thought-provoking ferocious live shows, being named highlights at many of the country’s top festivals including Woodford, Mullumbimby,
Queenscliff, and Fremantle in 2016.
The album itself has been praised by the press across the board with 4 star reviews in The Music, Rolling Stone, Herald Sun and was named ‘Double J Album Of The Week’ and the song ‘Black Diamond’ was awarded the ‘Tower Of Song Of The Year’ also on Double J Radio.
Born to a comedian & a clown, Lane spent his early years in a traveling circus. His nomadic touring lifestyle and knack for comedic storytelling confirm the theory one is a product of their upbringing, but when you watch Jordie perform it is his incredible voice and rhythmic guitar playing that seem like they come from another place and another time.
It is a voice that has taken him around the world, performing major festivals in the US, Canada, UK and Australia, and touring with the likes of international legends, Billy Bragg, Old Crow Medicine Show, Neko Case, Cat Power, The Weakerthans, Ruthie Foster, Mary Chapin Carpenter and The Moody Blues.

Jen Mize is one of Australia’s best-kept secrets in songwriting. The Boston Conservatory trained singer & multi-instrumentalist has enriched her own songwriting over the past six years and received strong acclaim.
Jen has quite a few songwriting heroes, and it shows. With influences like Joni Mitchell, James Taylor, John Prine & Ray LaMontagne, it’s easy to say that Jen has good taste, but good taste can only take you so far.
Jen says she’s “dug in when it comes to the craft of songwriting…It’s not enough to be drawn to the greats” she says, “you have to really get into a song and identify what makes it so special”. With her forthcoming album “Fear, Pride & a few Stubborn Angels”, Jen has done just that.
Jen feels she has come home with this new album. “Living abroad in Australia has been amazing for me” says Mize, “ but it’s made me the tiniest bit homesick and that has brought out the essence of who I really am with the Americana style.” “In fact, I wrote one of the tracks, “Biscuits & Gravy”, from a simple place of being hungry and craving southern cooking, and it wasn’t too much of a leap to use that idea as a metaphor for good simple things.”
An accomplished storyteller, Jen conveys an innate understanding of the human condition through her insightful lyrics and honey-dipped melodies. At any Jen Mize performance you will hear that, like her cornbread, her songs are rich, warm, tasty, and filled with love.
