THE DEMON DRINK

The driving, diamond rough, corner of the bar music of The Demon Drink swills round the bottom of your glass, tipping the barman handsomely before slapping you on the back and giving your girlfriend the dance of her life.

Brothers, Kieran and Adrian Waters (AKA Baron Field), belt call and response vocals over plunkin’ banjo, Mick Destiny’s snaking slide guitar, Sean O’Shea’s pulsing bass, trilling mandolins, a thumping kick drum and a bluesful of mouth harp.

Formed in late 2012, The Demon Drink is a band that comes with plenty of pedigree. These gentlemen have been climbing onto Brisbane stages in bands like The Big Brass Bed, Shutterspeed and Mexico City for well over a decade and tote a songbag full of favourites and curiosities to prove it.

Emigrating from North Queensland sometime back in the 90s, the Waters boys set about filling said bag with the swag of savoury/sweet original tunes that pepper a Demon Drink set today. From bar-worn, hellraisers (Pray For Rain) to hick-pop gems (Saturn’s Rings) and last-drinks laments (Month of Sundays), there ain’t a path into hearts and minds known that these boys haven’t yet travelled.

If its favourites you’re after, ‘The Drink’ has got ‘em in spades! Creedence, Chuck Berry, Johnny Cash…

Be it a skunkish string version of ‘Nutbush City Limits’, or a twangy Bangles’ Manic Monday, a night with The Demon Drink is, guaranteed, a night of soaring spirits and sore feet!

Having expanded their fan base with shows up and down the east coast (from Gympie in the north to Sydney in the south) in 2013, and fresh off the back of a guest spot at The Woodford Festival’s legendary Pineapple Lounge, The Demon Drink are a must watch for 2017.
